About KAR

While KAR was an undergrad student of philosophy at UCSB, his roommate introduced him to painting. Painting is a means to look inside oneself to question, to clarify, and to find the truth and reveal it; it’s another way of telling a story he says. After college, having worked for a major corporation for three years, the monotonic lifestyle made him quit his job and move to Barcelona, Spain to study MBA. He speaks English, Armenian, Spanish, and Portuguese.

KAR is a self taught Los Angeles based artist who currently paints on plywood. He says he prefers painting on them because the process and the final result have an added dimension to them; canvas is too delicate for hands on person like me he says. His past themes include politics, justice, love, humanity, and etc.

He says, “I paint not what I see in front of my eyes, but what I sense and feel within”.
